Fast genau einhundert Jahre nach den epochemachenden, ersten abstrakten Werken von Wassily Kandinsky, František Kupka, Sonia Delaunay und Kasimir Malewitsch hat die abstrakte Kunst nichts von ihrem ästhetischen Reiz und ihrem provokativen Potenzial verloren.

„Abstract Worlds“ zeigt uns wie Materialien und Konzepte sich evolutiv verändert haben, um mit zeitgenössischen Anliegen umzugehen in einer Welt, die charakterisiert wird von Beschleunigung und Intellektualisierung. Währenddessen bleibt die Fähigkeit der abstrakten Kunst unverändert, dass sie Herz und Hirn, Seele und Wissenschaft direkt durch Form zu verbinden vermag. Diese Eigenschaft ist weiterhin die raison d’être der abstrakten Kunst – einer Kunst, die noch immer nicht von allen verstanden wird, obwohl gerade sie so nah am Menschen ist.

Die Ausstellung präsentiert Malerei, Plastik, Zeichnungen, Drucke und Collagen des 21. Jahrhunderts von 10 Künstlern aus 5 Nationen rund um den Globus aus der Sammlung des Museums.

Quite exactly one hundred years after the giant breakthrough of the first abstract works by Wassily Kandinsky, František Kupka, Sonia Delaunay and Kasimir Malevich abstract art has lost nothing of its aesthetic appeal and its provocative potential.

Abstract Worlds shows us how materials and concepts have evolved to deal with contemporary concerns in a world that is aesthetically, technically and culturally defined by acceleration and intellectualization. All the while the capacity of abstract art remains unchanged to connect the heart and brain, the soul and the science directly through form. This capacity continues to be the raison d’être of an art that is not yet fully understood, even though it is so close to the human being and being human.

The exhibit features paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and collages of the 21st century from the museum collection by 10 artists from 5 nations around the globe.
