ARIANE ROESCH – HOME | RISING STARS RESIDENCY 2015
Das Till Richter Museum präsentiert Ariane Roesch als zweite Rising Stars Residency Stipendiatin. Die deutsch-amerikanische Künstlerin (geb. 1984, Würzburg) lebt und arbeitet in Houston, Texas, nachdem sie den MFA am California Institute of Arts abgelegt hat. Von August 2015 bis Januar 2016 bespielt Ariane Roesch die MainStage des Museums mit einer Einzelausstellung. Fasziniert vom menschlichen Streben nach Selbstverbesserung, hinterfragt Roesch die physischen und psychologischen Strukturen aus denen unser Leben besteht. In dieser Ausstellung geht es ihr darum, wie sich der Begriff HOME definiert. Ist es nur eine Adresse, ein Ort um sich niederzulassen und Wurzeln zu schlagen, oder ist es auch die Suche nach einem besseren Leben? Für jemanden, der in einem Land aufgewachsen und dann mit 11 Jahren in ein anderes ausgewandert ist, stellt die Erfahrung zweier verschiedener Länder mit verschiedenen Kulturen eine große Inspiration dar. Die Ausstellung transplantiert Roeschs persönliche Erfahrung in die Räume eines Schlosses aus dem 19. Jahrhundert an der Ostsee und bietet den Besuchern Gelegenheit darüber nachzudenken, was HOME (Zuhause/Heimat) für sie selbst und andere bedeutet.
The Till Richter Museum is pleased to announce its second Rising Stars Residency artist Ariane Roesch. The German-American artist (*1984 Würzburg, Germany) lives and works in Houston, TX after completing her MFA at the California Institute of the Arts.
From August 2015 to January 2016 Ariane Roesch will be featured on the Museum’s MainStage with a solo show entitled HOME. Intrigued by the human drive to constantly better oneself, Roesch’s work questions the physical and psychological structures that our life consists of. For this exhibition she is interested in what defines home – is it just an address, a place to settle down and grow roots, or ultimately also a search for a better life? As an artist who has grown up in one country and moved to another at the age of 11, the experience of two different cultures and countries makes this an area worthy of exploration.
The exhibition will translate and transplant that experience in various ways and media in a 19th century castle by the Baltic Sea. This will give visitors the occasion to ponder what HOME means for themselves and others.
