APR 2023: Prof. MARTIJN SCHUPPERS (*1967, lebt und arbeitet in Groningen) installiert den zweiten Teil seiner Ausstellung „Continuum“ in der Highlight Suite. Der dritte Teil folgt im August. Seine Interventionen werden die Aufmerksamkeit nicht nur auf die Werke selbst lenken, sondern auch darauf, wie die Werke mit dem Raum und in einer Abfolge funktionieren und den Raum beeinflussen.

Martijn Schuppers (*1967, Almelo, NL), Kunstprofessor in Groningen, wird ab August 2022 und das ganze Jahr 2023 unser Gast in der Highlight Suite sein. Das Konzept der Highlight Suite ist es, internationale Künstler/innen über einen längeren Zeitraum auszustellen, die in ihrem Heimatland bereits etabliert sind, und denen wir helfen wollen, ihre Sichtbarkeit in Deutschland zu erhöhen und neue Verbindungen nach Deutschland herzustellen.
Wir sind geehrt das „Continuum“ Projekt zu zeigen, in welchem uns Schuppers an der fortwährenden Entwicklung seiner Arbeiten in den drei aufeinanderfolgenden Räumen der Highlight Suite teilnehmen lässt. Sein Werk ist tief verwurzelt in der sogenannten reinen oder fundamentalen Malerei, bei welcher der Prozess des Auftragens, Umherschiebens und Schichtens von Farbe ebenso wichtig und untrennbar verbunden ist mit dem Ergebnis einer bildnerischen Einheit. Prof. Schuppers initiiert im August 2022 also eine Serie künstlerischer Interventionen, die die Ausstellung nach und nach ändern werden. Bereiten Sie sich darauf vor, erstaunt zu werden.
APR 2023: Prof. MARTIJN SCHUPPERS (*1967, lives and works in the Netherlands and Berlin) is installing Part 2 of his Continuum Show in the Highlight Suite. He will make a second intervention and installation in the space not only drawing attention to the new artworks but also demonstrating how the space can become part of the work and how the work imprints on the space.

Martijn Schuppers (*1967, Almelo, NL), professor of art in Groningen, will be our guest in the Highlight Suite during 2022 and 2023. The idea behind the Highlight Suite is to host for an extended period of time an international artist who is already established in his or her own country in order to increase their visibility in Germany and help them tighten their links and expand their network in this country.
We are honoured to be showing his „Continuum“ project, where Schuppers will work and exhibit in the three continuous rooms of the Highlight Suite to showcase an ongoing development of his work. It is a work deeply rooted in pure or fundamental painting, where the process of applying, moving, shifting and layering paint is as important and inseparable from the outcome as an aesthetic entity. Prof. Schuppers will thus initiate a series of interventions with this exhibition that will change over the course of time. Be prepared to be surprised.
