Wir beginnen die Saison mit einem fulminanten Auftakt. Headliner, und das ganze Jahr über in der MainStage zu sehen, ist die Retrospektive des spanischen Meistermalers Gregorio Iglesias Mayo anlässlich seines 60. Geburtstages. Der französische Kritiker Jean Paul Gavard Perret nannte den Künstler bereits 2018 „den mehr als würdigen Nachfolger von Goya und Francis Bacon“. „Das Gewicht der Erinnerung“ ist eine besonders eindringliche Ausstellung mit Werken die empfindliche Themen wie Kindesmissbrauch, Holocaust und Krieg behandelt, aber auch sehr einfühlsame Einblicke in die Familiengeschichte des Künstlers gewährt. Wir zeigen Werke aus der eigenen Sammlung und Werke aus der Sammlung des Künstlers.
We are kicking off the season with a spectacular start. Headlining the programme – and on display on the MainStage throughout the year – is a retrospective of the Spanish master painter Gregorio Iglesias Mayo to mark his 60th birthday. As early as 2018, the French critic Jean Paul Gavard Perret described the artist as “the more than worthy successor to Goya and Francis Bacon”. “The Weight of Memory” is a particularly powerful exhibition featuring works that tackle sensitive subjects such as child abuse, the Holocaust and war, whilst also offering deeply personal insights into the artist’s family history. We are exhibiting works from our own collection as well as pieces from the artist’s own collection.
